About

BMTA runs their six-week All Abilities Program once a year around August, on Monday nights from 5:15pm – 6:15pm at Whites Hill Reserve Camp Hill. BMTA's All Abilities Program is a great program for those with intellectual and physical disabilities to participate in, when they are trying out touch football for the first time. The aim is to introduce participants to the joy of movement through the sport of touch football, with BMTA’s qualified coaches having athletes participate in rotational activities designed to develop their skills and abilities in the core areas of the sport. The coaches’ goal is to have participants playing full touch football games come the end of the six weeks. BMTA’s All Abilities Program runs in conjunction with Touch Football Australia and Touch Football Specialised (TFS).

METRO CUP ALL ABILITIES

About

BMTA’s prestigious and highly competitive Metro Cup Competition, offers those with diagnosed intellectual and physical disabilities the opportunity to play in the TFS division with modified rules created by Touch Football Australia. Metro Cup is a 10-week competition running on Friday nights in Season 2 each year (August – November) at Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association, located at Whites Hill Reserve Camp Hill. All Abilities teams play in an inclusive environment with individuals who have a diagnosed intellectual and/or physical disability whilst being alongside family, friends and/or community members as teammates. TFS Athletes must be individuals with a diagnosed intellectual and/or physical disability whilst no diagnoses are required for team members. Athletes, teammates or coaches can reach out to one of BMTA’s Club Contacts about creating or joining a team for Metro Cup.

Adult Social Competitions

For All Abilities athletes not ready or not wanting to play in BMTA’s Metro Cup Competition, we encourage them to enter or join a team in one of BMTA’s Adult Social Competitions. These run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from February – June and then August – November. BMTA’s Adult Social Competitions consist of Mixed, Mens and Womens teams from divisions A through to F. This is a great next step after completing BMTA’s All Abilities Program, giving athletes their first exposure to 40-minute game play.

Events

Other All Abilities opportunities at BMTA include playing at their annual Anniversary Cup event which is a one-day social touch football competition in celebration of the affiliate, and playing representative level as part of BMTA's Senior Mustangs Program at either/both Queensland State Cup (held annually at Coomera in November) and The Championships (a national event held at Coffs Harbour in March) in Queensland Touch Football's and Touch Football Australia's Inclusive Divisions.
